Ocean Shores, Saturday 2nd September:
4000 sanderling
5-7000 western sandpipers
420 black-bellied plover
12 surfbirds
1 whimbrel
50 short-billed dowitchers
20 red knot
12 dunlin
250+ green-winged teal flying south, hundreds of sooty shearwaters offshore,
loads of loons, 6 American pipits.
The beaches were packed with cars and people. When the tide was coming in,
there were tow trucks as far as the eye could see - not being one to laugh at
others misfortune but.... ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. I was also neat to see people
frantically trying to dig their truck/car out of the sand with the incoming
tide lapping at their heels. When I become World President driving on beaches
will be the first thing to be outlawed.
