Gene,

Atkins "Lake", as it is called in the Delorme Atlas, is in eastern Douglas
County on page 85, C/D-5. It lies 7-8 miles west of Coulee City on Hwy 2.
In dry years the lake is a planted wheat field. Last winter was wet enough
to create a lake which has persisted this summer. The lake probably covers
a couple hundred acres at this time and is less than stubble-height in
depth. The edges are carpeted in short grass and other short vegetation
which look ideal to attract the stray Buff-breasted Sandpiper!

Good luck.
