Subject: pink Clark's Nutcrackers

Three weeks ago, I was in Manning Park and saw some strange Clark's
Nutcrackers: they were tainted with pink on their cheeks and breast (bib ?).
I saw such guys in two different locations, so it is not just a case of
the well-known `pinkanism' :-)

Does anyone out there know the reason for such a coloration ?
