Jerry Tangren mentioned orchard owners hanging mylar tapes to scare off
birds. We have found that this scheme also works well as a way of reducing
window kill. We live at the forest edge where tree images reflect from
the windows at certain times of the day. We used to average about 1 to 1.5
kills a month. 1 and 1/2 years ago we hung mylar strips over the most
exposed windows and since then have found that we are down to about 2 kills
a year.
