ALERT ALERT ALERT

Boise Cascade began cutting SUGARLOAF this morning. Sugarloaf is a timber
sale that should be recognized by all as a collossal mistake. Located on the
side of Grayback Mountain in the Siskiyous, these 670 acres of lush, old
growth forest are home to nesting spotted owls. The sale area lies within an
ancient forest reserve and a roadless area. Siskiyou National Forest
Supervisor, Mike Lunn, wasn't required to award the sale to Boise Cascade,
the high bidder in an auction back in 1989. Calls and letters from hundreds
of citizens and dozens of respected scientists and other authorities urged
Lunn not to award the sale, but last August, he did it anyway.

Activists in Southern Oregon will be meeting tonight in Williams and Takilma.

your outrage at his destroying Sugarloaf.
