It would appear that the Yellow Wagtail has left us...no relocation now for
4 days. The bird remained in the farm fields of Matindale Flats, Central
Saanich, from Sept 4 - 7. Watch for it in Wash./ Ore. ...in open weedy
fields, perhaps having as much exposed soil as vegetation, and possibly with
American Pipits.

The Loggerhead Shrike (our first) may also have moved on...seen Sept. 6 and
7 only. Thanks to Doug Kragh for the note on whisker colour of shrikes. Our
bird definitly had black whiskers, when seen as close as 30 feet through a
scope. It was Gerry Ansell's recollection of the Richmond bird that alerted
us to whisker colour, although he had forgotten which was which.

Thanks,

Bryan Gates, Victoria bgates at assessment.env.gov.bc.ca
