Tweeters,

As of Dec, 1994, I am keeping track of local birds in the Des Moines, WA
marina and surrounding areas, such as Saltwater State Park. Last evening
I ran into "Henry and Elaine", neighborhood retirees who bird the marina
almost everyday, so are good sources of local avian info.

The Des Moines Beach Park had a single pair of nesting Great Blue Herons
with two youngsters fledging this season.

And, Sept 11 saw the first small flock of winter resident American wigeon
and a couple of horned grebes. Transient Caspian terns and scoter sp have
also been seen here in past few days. Surf scoters will spend the
winter close to the marina, but none are settling yet.
