Hi, Tweets. Sorry to interrupt the current ruminations on Boreal Owls, but
I have a question of my own regarding Burrowing Owls. I'm trying to finish
a shamefully overdue report (volunteer project with ODFW) on observations
of BUOW in the Willamette Valley in winter. My question is whether any of
you know of winter records of this species in Washington state,
particularly west of the Cascades? I saved off the messages from last
winter regarding the one at George, and the few followup mentions of other
winter sightings east of the Cascades. I'd love more details, if any of you
would be willing to share them. What kind of habitat were they using? Any
artificial shelters, like culverts? Also, I seem to recall a record of a
bird or birds around Grays Harbor. Any truth to that? (Dennis?)

Thanks for any and all information. It will help round-out my report.
Replies can be direct to me if you prefer not to clog Tweeters.
