Humm....letzmezee....

There are two records that I know of;

American Birds 35: 206.

" A minutely described BROAD-WINGED HAWK was observed n.e. of Sullivan
L., Pend Oreille Co., Wash., August 31 (1980)(Jim Acton and Robert
Wilson) for apparently the first state record."

I have heard rumors that the BRC rejected this report some while ago, but
records from the records committee (as of October 1994) don't show that
this report has been evaluated (comments Dennis?).

I juuuuust happen to have the original description of the bird handy. Tom
Rogers was right in saying that it was "minutely described". However, he
left out the part about it being an immature. Jim Acton also included a
field sketch of the bird. In all, to me at least, it looks pretty good.

Also,

Clark, W.S., and C.M. Anderson. 1984. First Specimen record of the
Broad-winged Hawk for Washington. Murrelet 65:93-94.

I don't have copies of the Murrelet around the house so - I have no
comments, other than Bud should know about that reference as he is the
one who penned it.
