If you come down for the swifts, look at the tracings on the cloth we
have over the table. These tracings are from a fully extended swift and
are much larger looking than the boxed version at the table.
Last night, with the east wind coming through the Gorge, the
birds stayed lower, creating more a whirlpool effect than the vertical
vortex. The directions in which the birds entered the chimney
also varied much more than usual. A different sort of meditative state.
PAS will have volunteers at Chapman tonight, and next Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday. We currently anticipate the birds staying at least through
the weekend and perhaps through next week.
Thanks by the way to Lisa for the direction correction--that's
the trouble with living only fifteen blocks away (at least for one more
