Two observations:

An odd silhouette floating amongst the logs along the Everett waterfront today
perplexed me for e second until I realized it was just a Great Blue Heron.
Ive never seen a floating GBH before. Or is it, Ive never seen a GBH float
before?

The north Seattle Crimson-fronted Parakeets have reappeared but their numbers
are down to four birds from five this spring. Either the original pair didnt
breed successfully this year and/or one died (or moved to the East Side -
distinctions being debatable). Two of the birds have bright red foreheads, the
other two have much less red. Presumably, the redder pair are the original
pair, though some of the kids have been around for about 3 years and aging
by coloration may be blurring. Ive always meant to ask if the descendants of
the original pair will eventually pair off themselves. That was a question.
