Even in Wedgwood/Seattle, I have some Chestnut-backed Chickadees all
summer. The bird that says to me: Winter is coming... is the junco. And
folks, they're h.e.e.e.re! The juncoes are back in my yard. Sigh.

The albino question. I have a BC-chickadee that has a LOT of white on it.
It's been around for a year now; molting hasn't changed it. What's with
this bird? --genetics? nutrition? what is it? // Stranger still, I saw a
robin yesterday (I work at Pacific Medical Center on Beacon Hill) with a
nearly-white head. There were black spots on the head, but it was nearly
white. The breast was pure rust-colored, as an adult would be.
What the heck is going on?! --EB
