People are truly amazing. We can allow the slaughter of untold numbers of
deer, quail, pheasant, ducks and other wild creatures by hunters without
batting an eye; but the thought of shooting a nuisance feral cat or blowing
away five or six Sea Lions which are decimating a salmon run causes a panic.

Not true of all of us, I'm not in favor of blowing the
deer, quail, ducks, etc., away either. You can trace the
majority of problems, with cats or whatever, back to
people...and since we (as people) have domesticated the
cat, overbred them, turned them loose...and, typically, now
blame the cat. Just like I don't truly believe that the
problem with the salmon runs, is Herschel!
