Hi, Fellow Tweets. I recently saw a couple books I thought might be of
interest to birders, in a bookstore in Edmonds. I'm not sure if either
title is out of print, but I suspect that both are.

1) The first is a Canadian government publication: BIRDS OF WESTERN
CANADA by P.A. Taverner. It was published by the Canada Dept. of Mines,
Victoria Memorial Museum, and is part of two series: It's Museum Bulletin
#41 and Biological Series #10. The bookstore has the paperbound edition,
but the cover is loose although still with the book (it's a very thick
publication); it looks as if the book has had some water damage. The
store proprietor hadn't priced the book yet but thought it would be
something like $35-40 (the cover price was .75 pb and 1.00 or 1.10 for the
clothbound ed.). The date is 15 September 1926.

2) The second title is Jewett's BIRDS OF WASHINGTON STATE, 1958 (?), and
the two copies at the store are priced at $65.

Are either of these books in demand by birders?

The store is called the Olde Edmonds Bookstore (or Bookshop); it has
fairly restricted hours, and I see that I don't have the phone number with
me--sorry! If anyone is interested, I'll be glad to dig up further
information on the bookstore.
