Parakeet updates

Jean Goddens column in the Times today (3 April, page B1) reports
inaccurately on the (known) population of Scarlet-fronted Parakeets
in Seward Park, calling them parrots. Thats not her fault, as the
misinformation came from the person who reported the sighting.

At great personal sacrifice to my occasionally significant dignity,
I called Godden and corrected the error and used the opportunity (I
hope) to publicize Michael Smiths and my interest in hearing of
other parrot/parakeets sightings in the greater Seattle area. The
danger comes from Goddens enjoyment of publishing the sometimes
curious and entertaining association of peoples names and their
vocations/avocations ... the word for this phenomena escapes me.
Well see if she actually publishes a correction.

Meanwhile, the northend parakeet population has disappeared from my
Mapleleaf neighborhood as they have every year at this (breeding)
time. Where are they? Id (wed) like to know. There is some
suspicion that the Seward Park and northend populations are one in
the same, but I doubt it since Ive never seen more than five (and
only four recently) up here and the southern group numbers seven.
Please let me know if theyve been seen.
