We spent the weekend birding Northern Puget Sound including Spencer Island,
Ovenell Road (no GGOW), Whidbey Island, John Wayne Marina, Point No Point,
and the various ferry crossings. Highlights are follows:

At Spencer Island we met fellow Tweeter Barry Levine:

Tufted Duck
Least Sandpipers (22 Total)
Common Snipe


Whidbey Island, Hastie Lake Road:

The King Eider was at Hastie Lake Road. The bird was initially spotted well
offshore with a group of White-winged Scoters. Unbelievably, it then flew
directly toward us and landed about 75 yards away.

There were 210 Black Turnstones with 64 Surfbirds along the shoreline near
Old San de Fuca Store near/on(?) Penn Cove (the store on the main road and
the shoreline can be seen from near the pier which is marked no trespassing).

1 Brant as the ferry entered Clinton on Whidbey Island. There were also
Brant at Point No Point.

Port Townsend Ferry:

Rhinoceros Auklets - Well over 1000 birds. This was the largest group of
RHAU we have ever seen.

John Wayne Marina:

Yellow-Billed Loon (1 bird)
5 Black Oystercatchers

Edmonton Ferry:

Bonaparte's Gulls (1000+ birds)

We also saw a Turkey Vulture along I-90 in Ellensburg and 2 along Route 101
just after Port Townsend.
