Hello Tweets<

On Wednesday Fred Bird mentioned an on-line map to the
Wenas Creek area. I thought I'd pass along the information that
the campground where the Audubon chapters meet each Memorial Day
weekend has been logged and looks pretty haggard, Andy Stepniewski
reported this info originally on the WOS Birdbox (hotline). I
wouldn't want anyone to come up on the scene without a warning,
wilderness heart-attacks could be deadly. Seriously though, the
future for this area should be intersting, apparently it has been
logged before and as long as the land is owned by Boise-Cascade
it's subject to their policies. I wonder if their might be any
interest in the Audubon Society or the Nature Conservancy pur-
chasing some of this land. Because of the large migratory songbird
population that breeds in the area an Audubon Sanctuary might well
be appropriate and dovetail nicely with their Birds in the Balance
program which stresses the conservation of our common, migratory
passerines and their habitats.
