The reports of spring caused me to float out to the Vancouver
Lake/Frenchman Bara rea this morning. The Bald Eagles just south of
Frenchman's Bar continue their nesting activity. Many geese were still
around, and five neck-banded cacklers were found in the various flocks.
Still 150-200 cranes around and a late lone Tundra Swan. Savannah
Sparrows were numberous and extremely vocal as well.
In the yard at home in St. Johns, a few more golden-crowneds have
been around, and I've had a pair of purple finches on and off this week.
Also had a couple of red-winged blackbirds (have seen one or two at other
neighborhood feeders). Cliff Swallows were back at the Sauvie Isalnd
bridge Wednesday night. RK
