Spent Saturday (April 6) up Saddle Mountain Road, southeast of Walla Walla, in
the Blue Mountains. Several singing birds caught me by surprise; I don't
recall seeing/hearing them this early:

lots of Fox Sparrows
two Wilson's Warblers
one Townsend's Warbler
one Dusky Flycatcher
one Western Tananger

A lack of Yellow Warblers also was surprising; I usually find them before the
others in the spring.

Word-Of-Wisdom: If you go up this road, do not attempt to be macho and drive
through a deep mud puddle just to see if it can be done. Unless you enjoy
walking three miles and spending three hours trying to find somebody to pull
you out.
