I was over in the upper Methow, 4 mi. w. of Winthrop Apr.4-5. Lots of snow
on ground and lakes frozen at 2400-2800'. Nevertheless, there was a lone
Says Phoebe, a Red-naped Sapsucker, and a singing Vesper Sparrow! Back in
Bellingham area on Saturday (Apr. 6), there were 2 bright Yellow Rumps
(both Myrtles), 1-2
singing Yellowthroats, 25 Tree Swallows, 2 Am. Bitterns, and 3 L.B.
Dowitchers at Tennant Lake. At lake Terrell, only 6 Tree Swallows, 6-8
singing Yellow-rumps (only one i got a good look at was a male Myrtle), 2-3
singing Or.-crowns, and several singing Yellowthroats. At the lummi Flats,
all of the Trumpeters were gone but still two Rough-legged Hawks.
