just a couple of things to add to Janet's wonderfully descriptive
post..made we want to go get in a canoe instead of going to work :-(

It really is a slow, meandering river...but, if the wind is out
of the south/southwest at 10 knots or so, the trip will be all
*uphill*..I've made this trip with a stiff breeze on the nose and
it can be quite tiring..however, it's definitely worth it..

call Barry at (360) 754-6190 in Littlerock, WA..or go to Little
Rock center and turn left and go south along the river..you'll
see the sign..last time I did this the charge was $35/canoe and
Barry will come an look for you at intervals..i.e., he knows how
long it takes you to get to the *take-outs* so he checks them
which gives you the option of saying you want out, or you want
to continue to the next one..if you want a little more challenge
he also will put you closer to where the Black River dumps
into the Chehalis and you can canoe that river if you wish..
