The Black River drains Black Lake just south of Olympia in Thurston
County and joins the Chehalis River just south of Oakville in Grays
Harbor County, a distance of approximately 25 miles. The put-in as we said
in our posting is two miles south of Little Rock on Little Rock Road
(former State Route 121), exit 95 from I-5.
The Nature Conservancy owns 283 acres at the southern end of Black Lake
and the mouth of the Black River. Canoe rental and canoe trip concession
(open April 15) is a few miles south of the put-in point on Little Rock
Road.
