I'd say yes...Barry told me once that when the breeze is really stiff
he puts people in down river and lets them paddle back up with the
wind to the usual launch site..that being the case, one has to
conclude, (I think) that the current is really of not much
consequence. Admittedly, I haven't been on the river yet this year
but it's pretty predictably slow..Chehalis is another story..it
is still doable, but those who do it say it's a bit more of
a challenge..

Anywhere you can..there are sites where you can do that..I've
only gone on the river at the Black River Canoe Club's access.

...pretty much can guarantee an osprey, and I'd guess the warblers
based on the recent sightings of Orange crowneds, and yellow rumps
at Grass Lake in Olympia..(off Kaiser Road in West OLY near
Evergreen)..there's a very good chance of a vagrant something-or
other there as it's really wonderful, wet habitat..
