This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

Shirley Sturts and Gordon Comrie report 2 EURASIAN WIGEONS at Lane
Marsh in southeastern Kootenai County, Idaho on March 16. The marsh
is along ID 3 between Lane and the Coeur d'Alene River, a couple of miles
south of Rose Lake. Idaho DeLorme p. 60, BC-2.

On the Walla Walla River Delta in western Walla Walla County, WA on
March 16 were 154 DUNLIN, according to Dennis Rockwell. On the
21st, Bob Woodley counted 190 DUNLIN there. Also there were 2
AMERICAN AVOCET, 2 CASPIAN TERNS, and a first year GLAUCOUS
GULL. The gull has also been seen at the Wallula poop piles north of the
US 12 / US 730 junction just north of the delta. The Walla Walla River
Delta is about 30 miles west of Walla Walla at the Columbia River, just
north of the junction of US 12 and US 730. Cross the Walla Walla River
and go 0.2 mile more. Just before milepost 307, take the gravel road on

An adult GLAUCOUS GULL was reported from Mica Bay on the west side
of Lake Coeur d'Alene on March 23 by Shirley Sturts, as well as a
COMMON SNIPE. Idaho DeLorme p. 60, B-1.

A DUNLIN in a less than expected spot was seen by Dan Svingen on the
23rd in a muddy field just north of Tolo Lake near Grangeville, Idaho.

Andy Stepniewski saw 750 SANDHILL CRANES near Sims Corner in
eastern Grant County Washington this past week. Sims Corner is at the
junction of Washington 17 and Washington 172 on the west side of
Banks Lake. Washington DeLorme p. 85, B-5.

A nice flock of 11 swans were on the Syringa sewage ponds northeast of
Moscow, Idaho on March 24, 25 and 26, but all the observers could
agree on was that they were swans. Three callers had them as
Trumpeters, 2 as Tundras...

John Hirth saw a teal hybrid about 2 miles north of Moscow on Sunday,
March 23, along Mountain View Road. The bird had the head of a Blue-
winged and the body of a Cinnamon.

Summer residents of our region are showing up. White-throated Swifts,
Cliff Swallows, Violet-green Swallows, Sage Thrashers, Sage Sparrows,
Long-billed Curlews and Rock Wrens were seen this past week in central
Washington. Savannah Sparrows were spotted near Grangeville, Idaho.
