Birded Spencer Is. 1000-1400 on Tues. on our monthly field trip. Spent
considerable time looking for the Tufted Duck to no avail. Also did not see
the glove reported lost on Sat. Saw/heard a total of 46 species. Observed
four cute little Killdeer chicks. Saw a number of Dunlin in black-belly
breeding plumage. Heard a number of Common Yellowthroat, saw one
Yellow-rumped Warbler, a few Common Snipe, both Tree and Barn Swallows, but
saw zero woodpeckers - not even a No. Flicker. Species seen for the first
time this year on our monthly trips were Golden-crowned & White-crowned
Sparrows, Cinnamon Teal, and Red-breasted Merganser as well as previously
mentioned Common Yellowthroat.
