Driving by downtown Tacoma on Thurston Parkway this morning, I saw a
peregrine that had just caught a medium-sized bird (probably a Rock Dove
and still struggling) fly out over the Duwamish River, and another
peregrine stooped on it from above I couldn't see the end of the stoop, as
I only get a few seconds per observation at 55 mph, a lot of traffic, and
no shoulder on which to pull off. The stooper seemed smaller, perhaps a
male diving on a female, but I'm not positive, and both were silhouettes,
so no age determination. But perhaps Tacoma still has a pair o'
peregrines.
