Today (Sunday 4/14) was quite satisfying at Cape Flattery ... in spite of
high and lowering cloud cover and strong S-SE winds aloft and strong east
surface winds in the strait related to an approaching frontal system ...
lots of aerial gymnastics ...

Provisional count of today's sightings (by the Clarks and Ulf Konig) is
about 240 + about 25 (presumably local Bald eagles). About 180 were RTHA, 28
SSHA, 6 GOEA, and 4 COHA. This is by good margin our best day since the 900+
of 4/4/96.

The total of sightings (excluding BAEAs) for 26 days of the season so far
stands at about 2050. The season totals for the past few years have averaged
about 5000 sightings. This year is shaping up similar to 1995, in that the
first half of April was marginal weather and few birds ... perhaps the last
half will also mirror 1995 with a late peaking (hint, hint).
