This morning, Tuesday, 4-16, at Grass Lake, Olympia (well, it's
only a few blocks from my backyard), 20 evening grosbeaks in the alders
S. of the well, 3 band-tailed pigeons in the poplars of the neighbouring
house, golden- and white-crowned sparrows singing from the large bramble
patch west of the lake,a male rufous hummingbird doing towering,
U-shaped flights out of and
back into the willows at the SW corner of the lake, lots of common
yellowthroats in the willows and spirea around the lake's edge,
orange-crowned and yellow-rumped (myrtle, no Audubon's) warblers in the
alder grove lining the main trail, and the first black-throated gray
warbler in the same area.
