Two summer programs here for kids may be of interest to some
tweeterites:

Methow River Camp is an adventure-based ecology camp for kids ages
10-14. It is a five-day residential camp (tents) running from July 8-12.
Backcountry Biology is adventure-based field biology for kids ages 14-
17. This is a 7-day backpack into the headwaters of the Methow River,
July 20-26.

Spring is spreading its beautiful smile upon the land here in the Methow.
In the absence of new bird sightings, I will mention a few nesting
activities: Two magpie pairs finished nest building two weeks ago, took a
12-day vacation, and now have laid 3 eggs in one nest and 4 in another.
The nests are within 100' of one another. Tree swallows and bluebirds
are fighting over nestboxes (house wrens will arrive soon and kick them
both out), a Say's phoebe has finished her nest and seems to be on
vacation (no eggs), and our resident golden eagles have already begun
incubating. In a kingdom apart but worthy of mention, arrowleaf
balsamroot is just beginning to bloom.
