He is Vice President. When was the last time you heard from any Vice
President? It's the nature of our system. The President owns the
bully pulpit, the Vice President the mops, brooms, and toilet-cleaner
if he (thus far it's a "he") is lucky.
Harry Truman barely knew of the Manhattan Project when Roosevelt
died and he assumed the Presidency. This was just about three months
before the Trinity test. What he did know, he learned
BEFORE he bacame Vice President. He sat as the chair of one of
the powerful committees in the Senate - Finance, perhap? - and
became aware of a huge sinkhole for money within the Army that
was not part of operational stuff and began to investigate. He
didn't get far before he was asked to cease and desist in the
interests of National Security. He was told nothing in addition
as Vice President.
President's don't want a Vice President that diverts attention
of the media. Interferes with re-election.
