I had an eventful weekend, but didn't really go anywhere except the
park near home -- a pair of pileated woodpeckers are (I think) nesting
in Terrace Creek park. I've always seen and heard only one, but this
spring there are two...calling back and forth. The one who's been
there for a long time is not at all shy and lets you approach within
about 20 feet. They are sooo cool. Also a pair of yellow-rumped
warbler's (white throat), song sparrows, winter and Bewick's wrens,
bushtits building a nest.

The pair of wood ducks are still coming to the corn in my yard and
yesterday I saw an Anna's hummingbird at my hummingbird feeder. The
first hummer in the 3 years I've kept a feeder up.

However, the best thing was yesterday at about noon when I was
watching the birds out my bedroom window and everything when dead
calm....a Cooper's hawk landed on the fence, stayed about 5 minutes
and flew off.

All in all, a nice weekend of birding...
