Can anyone tell me what the general frequency ranges for song birds?
I've just received a cochlear implant (artificial hearing that by passes
most ear parts and electrically stimulates the hearing nerve to fool
ones brain into thinking these are sounds). I can hear birds for the
first time in 20 years. The maximum frequency possible with this
device is around 10,500 hz. At that level, tho, I might have to sacrifice
some speech sounds (altho listening to the radio, etc now I realize
I haven't been missing that much - fund raising week on NPR- aaarggghhh!)

Fascinating posts recently on hearing aids for birds. I was unaware of
these and will have to tell friends in my advocacy-support group (Self
Help for Hard of Hearing).
