The snag the Osprey pair had used at the Carnation Marsh was blown down
over the winter. An attempt to put up an nesting platform to substitute
was coordianted by Joe Miles, but other than a few sightings several weeks
ago there was not activity. The platform is fairly low due to lack of
mature trees in the Audubon portion. The adjacent land owner has several
good trees but could not be reached in time this year.

This week Osprey were sighted a few miles North at the entrance to the
Stillwater Wildlife Refuge. They appear to have appropriated a red tail
nest in a dead Poplar. The tree is right next to Hwy 203, about 50 yds
south of the road to the refuge.

We aren't sure its the same pair. There are reports of another nest
closer to the marsh near the Carnation Farms Bridge. This hasn't
been confirmed.
