To whom it may concern...My name is George Armistead and I have recently
arrived to Washington to assist Jennifer Seavey and the U. of Wash. in a
study on oak woodland bird populations and particularly the presence of
Ash-throated Flycatcher
and their ties to these kinds of woods. All the work we are doing will be
in Klickitat county and I'm interested in doing some birding in my off
time. I'm from Philadelphia and have only done limited birding in this
half of the country. Before arriving here I spent three months in Costa
Rica as a guide and before that worked as curatorial assistant at VIREO at
the Academy of Natural Sciences in Phila. VIREO is the world's largest
collection of bird photgraphs and the director is Doug Wechsler who made
his home in Seattle for many years. At any rate I hope to chase down some
of the local specialties around here and would greatly appreciate any tips
anyone could give me on any of them and particularly if there are any
upcoming pelagics going out of Wash. or even better N. Oregon I'd love to
hear about them. Thanks for listening and I hope to hear from you soon.
