A birding friend of mine here in Kingston-Nancy Ladenberger to be
precise, had a mysterious hummer at her feeder several weeks ago and
then disappeared. She described it to me as not being colored as a
male, fairly drab nothing stood out except a single black spot on the
throat, se estimates probably about the size of a pencil eraser end.
When I looked in Books the only thing I could come up with was female
Black-chinned Hummingbird. Can anybody with insights either help
support this guess or provide other suggestions (so we can rattle our
brains even farther). Thanks for any advice and you might want to
watch at your feeders this little guy could be wandering aimlessly
around the greater Puget Sound Lowlands. Thanks again in advance.
