We had a visit the last three days by a wood duck hen and her drake. This
morning they perched in the trees around my duck pen - this is the first
time I've actually seen them in the trees - really neat!

The eagles seem to have passed on (thankfully without my ducks!) although
the redtails still show themselves off and on.

The Osprey pair is back this year, circling around while holding fish again.
They're such fun to watch!

The Canada geese are having VERY vocal arguments out on the lake and the TVs
are circling in large numbers (5 Sunday, 7 Monday), coming in very low.

The Rufus hummers are still fuming at everything that comes near but I'm not
seeing the females. Hopefully they're nesting in the trees nearby.

We have either a Downy or Hairy Woodpecker (couldn't tell beak size due to
poor light - anybody have any hints on how to tell them apart other than
beak size?) that just finished drilling out a nesting hole in a snag at
lake's edge. It's in great viewing through the scope as the hole faces the
house!

House finches have found the feeder and siskins are still hanging around.
No sign of Goldfinches yet - we're keeping our fingers crossed and planting
Cosmos!

Happy Birding!
