Sitting down to breakfast in the new house for the first time, I heard a
familiar, but curiously out of place two-toned vocalization.

Sitting on the fence was a solitary male Bobwhite Quail. I assume this is a
released/escaped bird form someone's breeding facility.

He has been hanging out in the neighborhood for about a week. Saturday he
walked right up the middle of the street, into the yard and over to scratch
under the feeders. While not perturbed by people, he won't let us get closer
than thirty feet.
