Well, that's a great way to start your yard list. I've always counted
exotic birds on my various yard lists, as I don't think there are any
official rules.... I've never seen or heard a California Quail in our
neighborhood, but one morning one walked out of the shrubbery, fed under
the feeder for a while, then walked away, never to be seen again.

Hope Bob survives the traffic, cats, dogs, peregrines, and other urban hazards.
