In inner city northeast Portland, 20 years ago when there were more vacant
lots (before we became gentrified!), I used to see California Quail, and
used to hear starlings in the neighborhood mimicking their call. I
haven't seen quail for some years, and haven't heard the starlings imitating
their calls around here either.
