Despite the place being very noisy today (horse show + mowing), we had a
good day of birding with over 40 species.

Lots of evidence of fall migration, including HUNDREDS of flycatchers.
These appeared to be mostly Willow Flycatcher, Pacific-slope Flycatcher,
and Western Wood-Pewee, but I think there may have been other species
(Hammonds? Dusky?). In any case, there were often two, three, or even
four flycatchers in a single bush. If anyone is really good with
Empidonax, you might want to go down there today!

Other fall birds were Wilson's Warbler and Western Tanager.

Other notable sightings were perhaps 200 Canada Geese, a Wood Duck, and
a poor Song Sparrow being hounded by two young cowbirds. Last week, we
saw a Red-eyed Vireo being hounded by a young cowbird. In neither case
were there juveniles of the host species present :(
