Hi,

I've been lurking on this marvellous list for some weeks now.

The reason is that I expect to come to Seattle primo or medio september.
I'll probably stay there for 2 or 3 months.

I probably won't get much leisure time, but if I get some I will spend
some of it observing birds. I have never been outside Europe before, so
except for the House Sparrow and the Starling, most birds will be new
to me.

I have a couple of questions.
(And I certainly do hope that the list won't be overflowing)

Which book would you recommend?
I have borrowed the 1990 edition of Peterson's Western Birds from the
local library. It seems to be far superior to the older edition. I
cannot take that one with me, I have to buy one. Is Peterson's the best
one to buy? What does it cost? If significantly cheaper than here, I'll
buy it when I arrive.

Any guided tours?
Do the local bird watcher's clubs (Seattle Audubon Society or Washington
Ornithological Society) arrange guided tours, e.g. to places known for
large concentrations of birds during migration?

Thanks in advance,

Stig Linander.
