Just returned from a meeting in Ephrata with the B of
Reclaimation. After the meeting I zipped up to Soap Lake and lo and
behold I located a single sub-adult Parasitic Jaeger (light morph). The
bird was in the southwest corner of the lake . Also in the area were 106
red-necked phalaropes,286 eared grebes and 4 ruddy ducks. I watched this
bird for about 45 min. Saw it fly and swim and feed. It was picking
downed insects off the waters surface.First located it at about 11:45
A.M. ,and last saw it 12:25 AS I drove away. It was still feeding in the
same area. I watched it from the lake end of FIR ST. N. near the old boy
scout camp entrance. Was able to get ahold of Nancy Leonard. Good luck
mike
