I agree with all that finding a great grey in this area is exciting. In
reponse to habitat questions, yes there are meadows close by that area.
The spot where you saw the owl is just past where the road crosses the
middle fork toats Coulee. The area to the north (upslope) is rich in
meadows. I'll contact someone about it. Does anyone know what the "home
range" for a great grey is? Just a sobering note- that is right beside
unit 29 of the Long Draw Sale. This was another salvage sale the Forest
SErvice was trying to get through under the Gorton salvage bill. It has
been withdrawn temporarily, because of the Glickman directive and will be
reoffered this fall as a regular timber sale.
