I have both the Audubon and the older Thayer's CD's. I vastly prefer the
Audubon effort, and on my machine I don't notice any distortion in the
"problem" songs. I do have to adjust the volume, for either CD. I can
understand the complaints about using the Audubon for exporting to other
programs.

Maybe I am too easy going about this, but the Audubon interface doesn't seem
that bad to me. I appreciate the "bird finding" feature and have found it
useful a couple of times. On the other hand, the Thayer's has all these
optics reviews, which are fun to read around Christmas time.

Question: has anyone looked at the new Thayers "Birds of North America"
version 2.0? More neat stuff: Sonograms! "The Birders Handbook"! Quizzes
with levels like "hurt me plenty"! Bird house plans! So much available to
waste your time on the computer, so little time to waste. Seriously, if
anyone has tried this CD I'd appreciate a review of it.
