I had been wondering what birding CD Rom to get also when my mind was made up
about two months ago at Costco where they had the Nat'l Audubon version for
$40. I also have distortion of some bird songs. But I assume it probably
was my sound system. However, I do like many aspects of it, the pictures are
generally good and they frequently have more than one picture to cover
immatures and females. The two texts from two different sources give good
overall info that does not overlap very much. One thing I especially like is
the ability to mark different birds, have them displayed on one screen from
which you can recall the larger images and easily compare one bird to
another. I agree the CD-Rom is not good for trying to keep your bird lists.
I don't even try to use it for that. I use AviSys World for my birdlisting.
