Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This recording
was made Thursday December 5. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

A TENNESSEE WARBLER has remained about the intersection of Grant Avenue and
19th. Street in Corvallis since December 1.

The BLUE JAY coming to a feeder in Vancouver, WA continues to be seen,
although it was missing for several days. The BLUE JAY at Condon could not
be found last week-end.

A third winter plumaged GLAUCOUS GULL, a pair of OLDSQUAWS, two ROCK
SANDPIPERS, and about a dozen RED PHALAROPES were along the South Jetty of
Yaquina Bay December 1.

A YELLOW WARBLER was with a sparrow flock in Warrenton November 29. A very
white SNOWY OWL was at the shorebird flats at the South Jetty of the
Columbia River December 4.

A very late COMMON YELLOWTHROAT was at Smith Lake in North Portland
November 30. Also in North Portland that day was a male and a female
EURASIAN WIGEON at the Heron Lakes Golf Course in Delta Park.

Two LESSER GOLDFINCHES were among an AMERICAN GOLDFINCH flock at the Forest
Grove Ponds November 30. The next day three PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and a RED
PHALAROPE were at the ponds. Three CHIPPING SPARROWS were among a sparrow
flock at the Dayton Sewage Ponds November 29.

A SAY'S PHOEBE has been at the junction of Smithfield and Livermore Roads,
just north of Baskett Slough NWR during the week. A second SAY'S PHOEBE may
also be in the area. A WHITE-TAILED KITE was along Livermore Road north of
the junction November 28.

A RED PHALAROPE was on the Philomath Sewage Ponds November 27. That day a
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was at McFadden Marsh in the Finley NWR.

The SNOWY OWL near Tangent appears to be the only consistent SNOWY in the
Willamette Valley. It remains on the irrigation pipes in a large open
field. In the town of Tangent turn east off of Highway 99E onto Birdfoot
Lane. Cross the railroad tracks, follow the road as it turns right, then
left. Past the school the road turns right again. The bird is on the right
just past the turn.

A late OSPREY was in Eugene December 1. A really lost RED PHALAROPE was at
Toketee Lake in the Cascades east of Roseburg December 1. The OLDSQUAW can
still be seen there. A CASSIN'S FINCH was netted and banded near Grants
Pass December 3.

A SNOWY OWL was seen along Highway 19, about 27 miles south of Arlington
November 30. It was seen again the next day in the same area. The empidonax
flycatcher seen last week in Bend was found again November 29. It was
identified as a brightly plumaged HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER.

A flock of 30 LAPLAND LONGSPURS was found December 1 along Township Road
south of Klamath Falls.

The flock of 70 ROSY-FINCHES found last week at Wallowa Lake was still
there November 30. The first BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS of the season were in Joseph
that day. So far no Pine Grosbeaks or Redpolls have been reported.

Thats it for this week.
