I took a pain pill for my leg yesterday evening, and the major benefit was that
it knocked me for a loop and I got a great night's sleep. So, I had a business
appointment across the big water to the big suburb, in striking distance of the
Samish. As long as I didn't have to walk, I thought I'd take a shot at the West
90.

One Snowy Owl (not green<G>), heavily marked immature, sitting on a fence post
at easy 30X distance, accompanied by a Rough-legged Hawk two posts down
displaying a great white-based tail and a nice belly band. It was bitterly cold
and windy, so I wonder if the Snowy's buddies were hunkered down out of sight.
Northern Harriers about.

At the little park further on, Red-throated, Pacific, and Common Loons, prob.
Brandt's Cormorant, Horned, Western and Red-necked Grebes, Surf Scoter, Common
Goldeneye.

And then it got dark....

THANKS to the folks who provided directions and put them on the web. I've been
back in WA only three years, and hadn't birded there yet. It's great to know
exactly where to go for a lifer!!!! <G>
