Amen to that one, Jack! I didn't see the program, but have had the same or
similar experiences on numerous occasions. Though unforgivable in a "nature
program" which purports to be educating the public, it of course occurs in
the movies as well. I would bet most birders have noticed inappropriate
soundtracks, or perhaps flora and fauna not native to the area portrayed in
the story. It's gotten so that I can no longer restrain a groan when I hear
or see such inaccurate combinations. My non-naturalist husband tends to
respond by whispering "Cut it out!" (if he's enjoying the story), or "What
is it this time?" (if it's kinda crummy). And even *he* is tired of always
hearing the scream of a red-tail when the sound editor feels the scene
calls for that extra bit of "wildness."
