Last year, there was a radio ad for Skagit River Bald Eagle tours.
The sound track in the background? Red-tailed Hawk.

The Red-tailed Hawk as a subsitute for *any* raptor is a common one.

On a slightly different note:
A few years ago, I heard a radio report on the closing of the street in
front of the White House to auto traffic. The reporter was collecting
passerby interviews. One woman was exclaiming about how nice it was to
hear the birds on the White House lawn without traffic noise. The
birds in the background? Starlings. Sounded like about a 1,000,000 of
'em, churring away.
