I have been waiting for information like this to come through. A release
from the Canadian Wildlife Service indicates that there have been recent
satellite fixes of two transmitter-equipped Ospreys which had been banded
in the Creston area of southeast B.C. this past summer. One was located
in western Mexico; and the other along the Gulf Coast of Texas. Now
reasearchers can concentrate on what each bird eats on their wintering
grounds. So much more site-specific and temporally expedient than the old
method of leg banding.
